ABOUT KRISTEN

I believe that out of life's transitions, transformation and growth are possible.  I understand that just as we can be wounded in relationship, we can be healed in relationship.  I am a passionate believer in the equality of all people.

My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that the answers we need – to heal our wounds, change our behaviors, and become whole – rest inside of us.  I work to create a non-judgmental space for my clients to explore themselves and to grow in self-awareness and self-acceptance.  In our work together I will be honest and direct, gentle and compassionate.

I value growth and creativity.  I am interested in how the mind, body, and spirit work together.  I enjoy exploring new creative outlets.  I love music, photography, and dance.  I am a student of meditation and a yoga instructor.

BACKGROUND

Before I was a therapist, I worked in the corporate world.  During this time, I witnessed many of the complicated challenges women face as professionals, as business owners, as mothers, as daughters, as partners, and as friends to one another.  It was this experience that led me to become a Therapist.

I attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  During graduate school I completed two years of advanced training in Mindfulness & Behavior Therapies and specialized in working with survivors of childhood sexual trauma.  Since graduating I received additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, Experiential Therapy, Relational Psychotherapy, and Mindful Self-Compassion.  I created my practice to offer women a compassionate and nonjudgmental place to talk through the many unique challenges they face.

I am licensed in Oregon and Washington.
